It sounds so cliche but it really is quite stunning how fast babies grow! It's hard to believe my little one is already over 8 months old!! Her seventh month was such a busy time for her! She survived her first road trip, said goodbye to her infant car seat and smoothly transitioned to her new convertible car seat.
Stats: Her weight stayed at just over 16lbs and her height was about 27.5 inches. She didn't gain as much weight this month because she wasn't very well. There were so many contagious illnesses going round her daycare that month, everything from RSV, coxsackie , conjunctivitis.. thankfully it all cleared up pretty quickly
Hobbies: From the moment she turned 7 months she became addicted to clapping. I discovered almost by accident that she would clapping on cue whenever I said the word happy or happening. At first I thought it was just a coincidence but it turned out her daycare regularly sings the song "If you are happy and you know it" and she had learnt to clap to it from the teachers and other children. I was thrilled by this! She does it much more consistently at the daycare when all the other kids are doing it. But at home she gets a little spooked by how excited my husband and I get, and she doesn't clap as hard anymore.
Aside from that, her other main hobby this month is rolling around at record speed, this is now her main mode of transportation. She also loves attempting to army crawl ( crawling on her belly), getting up on one knee, trying extremely hard to climb out of her bath tub, and out of her crib, and trying to pull herself up into a standing position. I never knew that babies had such reserves of herculean strength!
Speech: Her speech is definitely evolving! Although she still babbles all the time, she is breaking it down into "words" and her babbling is sounding more and more like real conversation. She pauses and sighs in between the babbling and her tone rises and falls as if she were saying a real sentence. She also tries to imitate sounds that we make.
Teeth: She finally got her first tooth when she was 7 and a half months old! I was a bit scared of breastfeeding a baby with teeth, but other than that I was very excited to finally see a tooth! We have been on the look out for teeth forever, and every time she is irritable or has a fever we immediate blame her teeth, so it was nice that one finally showed up.
Diet: This month we introduced sippy cups and a straw cup for her to drink more water now that she has more than one solid meal a day. We introduced her to a few more foods this month namely; sweet potato, yogurt, avocado, blueberries, pears and bread.
In progress: Learning how to crawl and cruise around.
